SPoRT ADAS Advertises Cold Front

Surface temperatures analyzed by the SPoRT ADAS.

The SPoRT ADAS can be used by forecasters at the National Weather Service offices to detect approaching fronts and frontal passages. This SPoRT ADAS image from 2000 UTC (3:00 PM) shows a strong cold front over the central US that is headed for the Tennessee Valley and will bring rain and cooler temperatures by Wednesday night. While other analyses that are available to the National Weather Service provide adequate resolution, this SPoRT ADAS is a 2-km resolution product that allows for very easy determination of the location of fronts and other sharp gradients that may be missed by lower resolution instruments.

I hope everyone gets a chance to check out and use the SPoRT ADAS product. Enjoy!
