MODIS TPW Details Moisture Structure Over SEUS

MODIS data from the Terra and Aqua satellites can be used to map changes in moisture on a regional scale.  These images show total precipitable water derived from MODIS for 0329 and 0744 UTC on April 15th for passes over the southeast U.S.   Despite the clouds, the Tennessee river valley sits in a large pool of dry air which can be seen to be penetrating farther to the southeast in this 4 hour image seperation.  Also not the large gradient in moisture lower Great Plains (on the back side of the high pressure region centered over Arkansas).
