Terrain Temperature Gradients Revealed by SPoRT ADAS

One of the best attributes of the SPoRT ADAS product is its high, 2-km resolution. At this resolution, the surface analysis can capture sharp temperature gradients that may be missed by other lower-resolution analysis products. Here, the high-resolution SPoRT ADAS analysis reveals sharp temperature gradients associated with elevation changes in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in NE Alabama and SE Tennessee. This image is from today’s 1800 UTC analysis.
