The MODIS overpass from this afternoon captures many weather features the south has been dealing with for some time. The infrared image shows the more intense convective storms associated with the remnants of Lee, while the color composite image shows cloud cover to the east and extreme variations in vegetation from Louisiana to Texas (lush green growth to dry parched land). Smoke plumes can be seen in the modis color imagery from the various wildfires in Texas.
